Tangent
macOS app · in development
Click any face, edge or hole and say what to change. The Agent knows exactly which part you mean, and every result is a measurable CAD version you can compare or roll back.
Why Tangent
Getting a first model is easy. Changing the right part is not.
The hard part is the tenth change: describing in words which edge you mean, then hoping it lands there. In Tangent you point at it instead. Every result is kept as a version, and it’s a real solid you can measure and export.
The “Top face” in the last message was clicked on the model, not described.
Selection
Point at it instead of describing it
Click a face, edge or hole on the model and it drops into your message. The Agent gets its exact position, normal and size, so it knows which part you mean without a paragraph explaining it.
- Instead of
- “the M3 hole in the front right corner of the lid, not the other three…”
- Just
- Make @Bore wall 1.5 mm larger
How it works
Start with a sentence, then point
-
Describe it
Write what you need. Attach images, PDFs, text files or links if they help.
-
The Agent models it
It writes build123d code, Tangent runs it in a sandbox on your Mac, and the solid appears. Build errors go back to the Agent to fix.
-
Point and refine
Click the part you want changed and say what to do. Each result is a version you can restore, branch or compare.
Features
Built for parts, not pictures
-
Point at geometry
Click a face, edge or part and press ⌘L. It lands in your sentence, so the Agent knows exactly which one you mean.
-
Every result is a version
Restore any version, branch from it, or compare it with the last one.
-
Questions with options
When a choice matters, the Agent asks and offers options you pick in one click.
-
Annotations that stay
Pin notes to the model. The Agent acts on one when you mention it.
-
Measure and inspect
Measure, section, x-ray and focus on any model.
-
CAD knowledge built in
Every model source gets the same bundled modeling knowledge.
Reference images
Start from a picture
Attach an image for a first model, then refine it the same way: point and say what to change. An SVG also sends its exact paths.
Examples
Open a real model and keep going
Open one from the home screen and edit it with the Agent.
-
Raspberry Pi 5 cooling case
Three-piece CNC aluminum, with a reference board
-
Carbon quadcopter frame
5-inch, 220 mm wheelbase, with motors and FC
-
Planetary gearbox
4:1, three planets, involute teeth
